II Peter

II Peter

Summary: Three years had passed since Peter wrote his first letter to believers. Knowing his time was running out still impulsive, brash and vibrant Peter wrote what was on his heart. Beyond the persecution of the believers the rising up of false teachers and heresies Peter looked to warn the believers of  the dangers of their teachings. His warning stand as an ever vigilante guardian that is by an large over looked, misinterpreted or forget in today's everyday church liturgy. This is a letter is a reminder that we as believers need to study and grow not fully relying what is preached to us but seeking out guidance, wisdom and knowledge that is our inheritance.

Things I Noticed:

1. Peter wrote this to who have obtained a faith of equal standing.
2. His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness. After his victory from the dead life became more powerful then death. So the world which is ruled by death can be overcome.
3. You may become partakers of the divine nature having escaped the corruption of sinful desire.
4. This reason means our every effort to supplement your faith with the excellence of virtue, and the excellence of virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection and brotherly affection with love. For these qualities keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
5. Be all the more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall.
6. We did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power of coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
7. Do well to listen to the prophetic words [Scripture] of the past and pay attention to them as a lamp shinning to your feet in a dark place.
8. No prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
9. False prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you.
10. The Lord knows how to rescue the Godly from trials, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of Judgement, and especially those who indulge in the lust of defiling passion and despise authority.
11. False teachers entice the unsteady soul. They have followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved gain from wrongdoing.
12. It is these teacher for it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them.
13. Know this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires.
14. God wishes that none should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

Finishing up our time with Peter we move next to hanging out with with John in his first letter. I am almost done with my travel with Job through his journey of woes and wisdom so be expectant of that. Till then, Read up, Post up, and Shalom.
